Blog Book Giveaway

If you would like to be in with a chance to win a free book then head on over to visit with Margaret Daley and check out her interviews with MaryLu Tyndall and Cecelia Dowdy. I haven't read books by either of these two authors so I would love the chance to win one of their books. Gotta be in it to win it.

Christian Readers Challenge #1

My first book read for this challenge is Back Home Again by Melody Carlson This is the first book of the Grace Chapel Inn series. There are over 44 books in the series written by a variety of authors. After reading this first book the rest of the books in the series have been written so they can be read independently and not need to be read in order to be able to follow the story line.

BACK HOME AGAIN

The sleepy town of Acorn Hill, tucked away in rural Pennsylvania, is in for quite a surprise. After Daniel Howard, the adored minister of Grace Chapel, passes away, his three daughters come home to remember their father, and find out that each has inherited a share of his run-down Victorian house. As the three wander through rooms rich with childhood memories, Louise dreams of a music conservatory, Alice imagines a youth ministry, and Jane, a splendid cook, sees a restaurant. The squabbling begins.... as does a brilliant solution to the sisters' dilemma. Grace Chapel Inn -- a unique bed and breakfast -- is born, and a new life begins for them all.

These three women are as different as siblings can be--can they survive living together, let alone going into business together? It looks like their dream may be headed for disaster. Only by learning to work together, trusting in God and accepting a little help from their friends can the three sisters see Grace Chapel Inn open its doors.

If you would like to read chapter one then check it out here....

Read an excerpt

Back Home Again is a story about three sisters, Louise, Alice and Jane. Their father Daniel Howard passes away and leaves equals shares in the house between his three daughters. Initially the three sisters have their own ideas about the condition of the house and what should be done with it. It was Daniel Howard's plan that by leaving the house to his three daughters that the house would draw the three sisters together. This is what happens as the sisters decide to all move in together and renovate to make a bed and breakfast inn called Grace Chapel Inn.

All is not to be plain sailing for the sisters though. The three sisters are quite different personalities and each one has their own strong viewpoints about how things should be orgnaised and what needs to be done. They disagree between one another with how things should be done with the renovating of the house. One thing always remains though and that is their strong faith. When things seem impossible the Lord can and will provide just what is needed at the right time and everything has a way of turning out for the best. Only by learning to work together, trusting in God and accepting a little help from their friends can the three sisters see Grace Chapel Inn open its doors.

This is the first book that I have read by Melody Carlson and I look forward to reading more but unfortunately this was the only book in the Grace Chapel Inn series written by Melody Carlson that the library has.

Young Adult Book Challenge #1

My first book read for this challenge is Why Did She Have To Die? by LurleneMcDaniel.

What do you do with an older sister who is smart, pretty, popular, and perfect?

What do you do when you realize she's the best sister ever?

What do you do when you find out she's gone...and you didn't get to say goodbye?

Thirteen-year-old Elly Rowan asks herself those questions—and one more...

Why Did She Have to Die?

Lurlene has a great writing style which is ideal for teenagers to be able to relate to. Her stories speak right to you and you can just imagine what it would be like if you were to step into the shoes of the teenage characters in the story and face the challenges that they are having to deal with.

In this story Elly's older sister dies when they are riding together in a car driven by a guy Elly's sister likes. The car crashes and Elly's sister dies. Elly is then left questioning why was she not the one that died when her sister always appeared to be the favored child with her parents and Miss Personality and Popularity at school. Why couldn't she be the one that died and her sister survived when it was her sister that appeared to have everything going for her while she was the overlooked child or so it would appear to her. I am sure that there are many teens that would be able to relate to this story and how to deal with what happened and eventually reach out to other for help to be able to start accepting what happened and be able to move forward in her life.

Romace Reading Challenge #1

I have just finished reading my first book for the challenge which is Purchased: His Perfect Wife by Helen Bianchin.

Wife bought and paid for!

Lara needs cash fast. Her business partner has duped her and her beloved restaurant is in crisis. Only Wolfe Alexander, her tall, dark, brooding stepfather, can help. Wolfe needs to marry to meet the terms of his late father's will, and when beautiful Lara begs him for money he sees his opportunity.... A powerful attraction has always simmered between them and he'll help if she'll be his convenient wife! With no choice but to accept, Lara is soon swept into a world of high-society glamour, and passion beyond her wildest dreams. But where is her husband's love?

When reading a Harlequin romance you are virtually assured of a happy ever after ending of man meeting woman. However it is always interesting to be able to follow the story line and see what way the author is going to take the story to keep the reader interested. In this story Helen offers some interesting challenges for Lara and Wolfe. What starts out as a marriage of convenience between the couple causes some conflicts and battle of wills before the two of them are finally able to admit their true feelings and be able to have the happy ending together they both desire. A great quick read for all lovers of Harlequin romance stories.

More Books Read.....

This morning I finished reading book # 4 The Wyoming Kid by Debbie Macomber.

A Cowboy's Joy

Rancher Lonny Ellison has never known a woman like Joy Fuller. For one thing, she doesn't seem very interested in him, and as an ex-rodeo cowboy, Lonny's not used to that. Women mobbed the Wyoming Kid during his rodeo days! And another thing, he and Joy -- who's a schoolteacher and his sister Letty's best friend -- seem to argue constantly.

But it doesn't matter, does it? Because he's not interested in Joy, either.

Wait a minute. Maybe he is. At least that's what Letty seems to think their arguments are all about. Yup, she might have a point there.

Now he has to convince Joy that marriage to the Wyoming Kid will be as exciting as an eight-second bull ride and as sweet as the cookies she loves to bake.

I always enjoy reading books by Debbie Macomber and this book was no exception. Debbie has a great way of drawing you in the story and turning the pages to find the outcome. A great read.

I then went on to read book #5 Sarah by Mary Christner Borntrager.

Sarah Troyer faces changes in her Amish family because of her mother's illness and death. She is sure that Sadie Zook, the hired girl, mistreats her and scolds her unfairly. At school, Sarah finds Regina Byler to be an understanding friend. Then a near-tragic house fire helps bring healing. Former hurts and forgotten, and Sarah learns to accept a new mother and work as a hired girl herself. At the house raising for Sarah's family, the head carpenter's son notices Sarah, and gives her rides home after group singings. Later, Sarah keeps company with Mahlon Mast. Eventually they are baptized and then married in the Amish church.

I always enjoy reading books about the Amish and the lifestyle they lead. This books was a great read and gives you an insight into the life of an Amish family.

Book List # 2

#2 on my book list is Sex By The Numbers by Marie Donovan

Accountant Keeley Davis has been hired to find out who's been bilking money from the well-respected Bingham Bros. investment firm. To do so, Keeley will have to don a disguise and work closely with tastier-than-homemade-cherry-pie controller Dane Weiss!

As Keeley tramps herself up as Dane's personal assistant "Cherry Smith," her calculations start paying off big dividends - like when she serves up a hot plate of Dane a la mode. But as things start to really sizzle, Keeley wonders whether she can keep her eyes on the bottom line.when all she can think of is keeping Dane in her bed?

If you like a book that it hot and enough to make the pages sizzle then you really should check this book out. A great read. Would love to send this book to my nana to read being that she always used to tell me that certain books I would borrow from here to read were hot stuff. If only she knew. LOL... They were very tame compared to this book. LOL.... Would make her blush alright as the cover states. Must check out more books by Marie Donovan from the library and them to my reading list.

As a bonus if you check out Marie's website contest page here she has a contest to enter. In honor of the release of my third Harlequin Blaze romance BARE NECESSITIES, I am holding The Bare Necessities contest. All you have to do is sign up for my author newsletter or be a previous subscriber on or before January 31, 2008 and you’ll be entered in the prize drawing!

Now about that prize…a $50 e-gift certificate to BareNecessities.com, an online lingerie company with thousands of wonderful undergarments to choose from. My heroine Bridget would love this site—they have over 600 styles of bras to choose from!

Who wouldn't like the chance to win this fabulous prize. You gotta be in it to win it so check out Marie's site and sign up.

And when Jamie offers Cooper her irresistible body - no strings attached - he's down for the count.
