2012 Support Your Local Library Challenge

• Audio, ebooks (some libraries allow ebooks to be checked out), bound books are ok.

I have been downloading some kindle freebies to my computer but haven't actually read them as yet as I don't really like reading books on my computer. I have just downloaded the kindle app to my ipod touch so going to try reading some of the freebie books on that.

This should be an easy challenge to complete as I have quite a long wishlist of books I would like to read. I borrow the majority of the books that I read from the library as I couldn't afford to be able to keep buying all the books that I want to be reading. I still have books here at home as well though that I will be using for this challenge.

What's In A Name Reading Challenge

I am participating in the Christian Fiction Devourers What's In A Name Reading Challenge at goodreads. You can check out the challenge and sign up here.

The challenge details are as follows:

This one is different but I thought it could be fun for our adventurous readers- it's called "What's in a name challenge?" You would need to read a total of 6 books meeting the following criteria:

1) A book with a food in the title- ie "The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder".

2) A book with a body of water in title- ie" Wonderland Creek".

3) A book with a "title" in the title -ie "The Queen" or "All the President's men"

4) A book with a plant/tree in the title -ie- "The Wind in the Willows"

5) A book with a place in the title- The "Love finds you" series would be perfect to fit in here.

6) A book with a music term in the title- ie- "Song of Solomon"

I haven't actually chosen my books for this challenge yet.

New Author-To-You Reading Challenge

I am participating in the Christian Fiction Devourers New Author-To-You Reading Challenge at goodreads. You can check it out here.

The challenge details are as follows:

New Authors Challenge—Challenge yourself to read a certain amount of books by new-to-you authors

Levels:

• Curious – 2 new authors
• Fascinated – 3 new authors
• Addicted – 5 new authors
• Obsessed – 10 new authors

I have chosen Obsessed - 10 new authors.

I have quite a few authors on my wishlist which will easily fit this challenge.

goodreads Reading Challenges

You can log all the books that you read, create wishlists of books to read, join reading groups, participate in reading challenges, follow your favourite authors and so much more.

In 2011 I joined in their reading challenge to read 125 books which I completed by reading exactly 125 books. This year I have again challenged myself to read 125 books. If you sign up on their website you can log each book as you read it and it will update how much of the book you have read as you update each time and also keeps a count of how many books you have read and what percentage of your challenge you have completed.

I also belong to several groups that have a monthly book or two selected to read each month and also have reading challenges. I will list the challenges I am participating in seperate posts.

My wishlist continues to grow daily as see all the great books everyone else is reading and recommending.

Of these books I read I borrowed 119 books from the library. I do my best to support my local libraries and book the majority of the books that I read as being an avid reader I just couldn't afford to buy all the books that I would like to.

This doesn't mean to say that I didn't buy many books myself in 2011 as I certainly did. I just tend to borrow as many as I can as I just don't have the dollars nor the storage to be able to support my reading habit. LOL....
